It’s here. After hundreds of drama filled games and a season of up and down betting, we have arrived. The bookmakers have set their final line for the 2012 AFL season, and the sports investment players are waiting on the weather.
A fairly steady line here of +/-14.5 points, with no major movement of the line to this stage. Would expect a move late, probably towards the Hawks, as the weather situation becomes clearer. Some groundswell for the Swans has been forming in the media, a few talking heads out there give them a good chance. Like any match at the MCG concerning Hawthorn, it would be a brave sports betting fan that goes against them. With the wet weather predicted, and a total set at 170, it isn’t difficult to make a case for the Sydney Swans crash and bash contested footy style. Will be an interesting clash of styles as they take on the Hawthorn team that prides itself on delicate passing and run and dash. Sydney’s ATS record at the MCG is not good (don’t have exact numbers at hand), and we expect to keep an eye on the weather and take the -points with the Hawks.
Early leans: (would never bet these, but more for enjoyment of making a prediction and isn’t to be taken seriously)
Norm Smith : Buddy Franklin, Cyril Rioli.
First Goal : Luke Hodge.
Enjoy Grand Final Saturday, and hope the weather stays bearable.
