Week 2 of the 2012 AFL finals and we had a couple of games that the bookmakers outlined as being close contests. Adelaide needed to account for a Fremantle that was charging home in the latter half of the season – and had accounted for Geelong last week in a massive upset…. and for a short while the Crows were on the ropes until Walker straightened the ship and they finished off well to win and cover by a hook. In the other final, Collingwood fought out a great match against the West Coast Eagles to take the win in a fairly even betting environment. We were not tempted this week into taking an AFL position, playing NFL and MLB instead.
Friday 14th September Adelaide [$1.65, -9.5 @ 1.91] hosting Fremantle [$2.28, +9.5 @ 1.91]. Fremantle jumped the Crows out of the blocks and weren’t headed by them until the third quarter. The late line with the bookmakers had sports investment players laying -9.5 @ 1.855 vs +9.5 @ 2.060. Taylor Walker finishing with 5 goals was the difference, and he is primed for a dangerous September. On to next week for the Crows against the Hawks.
Saturday 15th September Collingwood [$1.82, -2.5 @ 1.952] at the MCG accounted for the West Coast Eagles [$2.02, +2.5 @ 1.952] and were the late mover with the bookmakers, finishing at -3.5 just before the bounce. The Pies were emotionally involved following the death of ex-teammate John McCarthy in Las Vegas earlier in the week. All the big names stood up for Collingwood, and we didn’t touch this game but were leaning towards the Eagles actually.
Favourites went 2 – 0 against the bookmaker’s handicap line. (Now 107 – 96 for the season).
Moneyline underdogs no wins.
At professionalgambler for finals week 2 we didn’t play. Our 2012 AFL only season record remains at 31-38, for -19.5 units.
