Week 2 of the 2012 finals has us looking at only 2 games, with nothing to be played on the Sunday. We are getting very close to the pointy end of the season, and the AFL betting opportunities fewer and fewer. Hawthorn are now into odds-on to win the flag at $1.65, with the next best in the betting being Sydney at $5.40. Personally we had backed Fremantle at 50-1 some weeks ago and will be taking some big positions against them tonight against Adelaide and in the weeks to come should they be victorious tonight.
This weeks games.
Adelaide will be keen to regroup after going down to Sydney last week at home. The sports betting market this week has them again -8.5 points against the surprise packet of last week Fremantle. We think the line is spot on here. Fremantle will bring the consistency of the past few weeks and Adelaide would not be able to replicate last weeks horrible performance, even if they tried. We assumed Tex would be the difference last week. He wasn’t. Leaning Fremantle +points but will stay away.
Having failed to cover in their last four outings, Collingwood have been a costly option. Not expecting them to suddenly find a fourth gear this week, although if anything – the pies have been “flighty” and able to pull out some good victories over good opposition… The last time being up in Sydney in the wet. Losses to North Melbourne, West Coast and a grinding win over a weak and struggling Essendon is not confidence inducing form. West Coast in Melbourne in 2012 are 2-2 ATS, and were commanding at home last week. All in all this should be a good game of football as the weather appears to be holding up. Bookmakers with +/-5.5 expecting a close one. West Coast have played the sharper football of late, but we still have some work to do on this match up.
